The University Research Institute on Democracy, Security and Peace (IUDPAS) is part of the Honduran National Autonomous University (UNAH).
It focuses on a range of topics including access to justice, human rights, and citizen security.
Through the National Observatory of Violence, IUDPAS systematises, classifies, analyses and builds knowledge about violent and unintentional deaths in Honduras.
To support this work, IUDPAS set up a nationwide network of Regional Observatories of Violence, bringing together people from multiple disciplines to provide technical support.
IUDPAS has published national bulletins on a range of casualty recording-related issues, including violence and organised crime, deaths of women and femicides, and violence against members of the LGBTI+ community.
It has also designed and delivered over 30 accredited education and training programmes over the last ten years, reaching over one thousand participants.
IUDPAS joined the Casualty Recorders Network in November 2022.
