Pak Institute for Peace Studies

PIPS is an independent think-tank committed to providing in-depth and objective analysis of global and regional issues. To this end, PIPS plays an active role in promoting understanding of the perceived and real threats to regional and global peace by focusing on a variety of peace and security issues.

In the six years since its establishment, PIPS has developed an elaborate, reliable and widely subscribed database (Conflict and Security Database) on internal security issues of Pakistan. It is the only comprehensive database about internal security issues in Pakistan which monitors and records in great detail conflict casualties (including civilian casualties), and attacks by a range of perpetrators, among other things. The Conflict and Security Database team monitors around 100 local and national newspapers, magazines and journals on a daily basis. The team relies extensively on regional correspondents of PIPS to cross-check information and seek further details of issues covered by the media.
