We believe that every life deserves recognition, every family deserves the truth, and every body deserves a name.
Our vision is a world in which the dignity and humanity of every person is recognised and valued. It is a world in which nobody is considered expendable ‘collateral damage’. It is a world where those who wish to pursue armed conflict must first acknowledge the cost of their actions on individual human lives, not just anonymous statistics.
Conflict is fuelled by rhetoric which dehumanises the ‘other’. Our mission is to reverse this process, by restoring the individual human identity of every victim. Whoever they were, whichever side they were on, whatever their status – we believe in bearing witness to every life lost.
We believe that a peaceful world is possible, but to achieve it we must first document and recognise the true human cost of violence. Our mission is to support casualty recorders around the world to make this happen. Join us.
By honouring the losses of the past,
we can build a more peaceful future for everyone.
