The Permanent Missions to the UN in Geneva of Aghanistan, Costa Rica, Croatia and Liechtenstein co-hosted a webinar on “Casualty Recording and Human Rights” on 4 February 2021.
The webinar aimed to further raise awareness of casualty recording as a human rights issue, following the first ever joint statement on casualty recording to the Human Rights Council at its 45th Session. The statement was supported by 51 states.
Ambassador Peter Matt (Liechtenstein) hosted the webinar, and it was moderated by Ambassador Catalina Devandas Aguilar (Costa Rica). Panellists included Ambassador Vesna Batistic Kos (Croatia), Ambassador Nasir Ahmad Andisha (Afghanistan), Rachel Taylor (Advocacy Director, ECC), Francesca Marotta (Chief, Methodology, Education and Training – OHCHR), Fiona Frazer (Human Rights Chief, UNAMA) and Oran Finegan (Head of Forensic Unit, ICRC).
Over 100 participants joined the webinar, including representatives from the diplomatic community, NGO and UN colleagues. If you missed it live, you can watch the recording here.
